Maryland transportation officials will visit McLean soon as part of ongoing efforts to link the I-495 Express Lanes Northern Extension (495 NEXT) Project with planned Beltway upgrades at the American Legion Bridge and beyond to I-270.

Workers with the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration from Aug. 12 through 16 will perform field work and gather data to confirm locations and elevations of topographic features that will inform concept designs.

The workers’ investigations will occur in the existing VDOT right-of-way along I-495 and Live Oak Drive in McLean.

Staff will access the project site from Live Oak Drive and will be dropped off and picked up, so as to minimize community disruption, officials said. During these investigations, the public may see workers in the VDOT right-of-way, on the Potomac Heritage Trail or near the Potomac River, officials said.

People who have questions or concerns should contact the American Legion Bridge and 270 Corridor Project team at (410) 637-3300 or e-mail [email protected].
