McLean’s Spring Hill Elementary is one of four schools statewide to have been honored as Exemplary High Performing Schools.

The U.S. Department of Education announced the recipients Sept. 23 as part of the National Blue-Ribbon School program.

Spring Hill joins Green Run Collegiate (Virginia Beach), Bethel Manor Elementary (Langley Air Force Base) and St. Andrew the Apostle School (Clifton, part of Roman Catholic Diocese of Arlington) in receiving the 2024 awards.

An additional four Virginia schools were named Exemplary Achievement-Gap-Closing Schools, though none was from the local area.

“These schools demonstrate a strong commitment to the success of all students and should be recognized for their achievement,” said Superintendent of Public Instruction Lisa Coons. “We congratulate the entire school staff, students, families and communities, and look forward to sharing their great work and example to help raise up other schools’ performance.”
