A number of students from the GazetteLeader High School are those from 26 Fairfax public schools to have been named recipients of the school system’s “Student Peace Awards,” designed to recognize the efforts of youth as peacemakers.
Local recipients include Bareen (Bree) Yagana, Langley High School; the No Place for Hate club at George C. Marshall High School; Matthew Sullivan, James Madison High School; Sahee Perez, McLean High School; and the Social Change Club (Sophia Li, Annika Holder, Jaya Gupta, Ananya Bandaru, Harika Akundi) at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science & Technology.
