Charlie Walls of Vienna, a freshman at James Madison High School, recently participated in the Summer 2023 National Leadership Youth Forum STEM Program, held at Villanova University.

Participants enjoyed lectures on leadership and scientific exploration from academics and members of the U.S. space community, including astronaut William McArthur. Together with members of student-engineering team, Walls completed a project to develop a mock Mars lunar rover.

Walls was nominated for participation by the faculty at Thoreau Middle School, where he was an eighth-grader last year.
