We may have bottomed out on frigid temps, but it will remain chilly until warmup next week

The morning started out a frosty 11 degrees at GazetteLeader headquarters in Falls Church, and Northern Virginia residents can expect a string of cold nights on the horizon.

AccuWeather, the GazetteLeader's weather partner, is projecting overnight lows of 14 degrees tonight [Wednesday, Jan. 17], with a slight tick up to a low of 29 degrees on Thursday night, then 19, 17 and 14 degrees, respectively, as the lows on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

There continues to be the threat of a 1-to-3-inch snowstorm rolling through on Friday.

There should be a (relative) warmup next week, and spring can't be far behind: pitchers and catchers report for Major League spring training in 28 days!
