The nonprofit Shepherd’s Center of Northern Virginia (SCNOVA) announced April 23 that it had received an $18,000 Community Investment Fund Grant from the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia.

The funding will help the Shepherd’s Center serve more clients in under-served areas and meet the transportation needs of older adults, such as critical doctor appointments and food essentials, officials said.

“This funding will enable SCNOVA to reach more older adults with free medical and non-medical transportation needs and expand our community outreach and awareness to invite new clients and volunteers into our program,” executive director Carolyn Pennington said.
