Fairfax School Board OKs paving, playground contracts

McLean High school to see its asphalt repaired; Mosaic Elementary to get new playground equipment

The Fairfax County School Board as part of its July 18 consent agenda approved the following contracts:

• A $428,451 deal with Tibbs Paving Inc. to mill and repave the asphalt at McLean High School’s parking lot. The contractor has performed successfully on similar projects for Fairfax County Public Schools, including paving initiatives at Hayfield Secondary School and Holmes and Kilmer middle schools in 2023 and at Glasgow Middle School and Parklawn and Virginia Run elementary schools in 2022, officials said.

• A $476,873 contract with Centennial Contractors Enterprises Inc. to install playground equipment at Mosaic Elementary School. This contractor also has performed well on similar initiatives for the school system, including at Oak Hill and Hunters Woods elementary schools in 2023, Aldrin and Greenbriar East elementary schools in 2022 and Floris, Fairfax Villa, Oak View and Vienna elementary schools in 2021, officials said.
