Fairfax School Board members divide up liaison assignments

The Fairfax County School Board assigned members July 18 to these standing committees for the 2024-25 school year:

• Audit Committee: Ryan McElveen (At-Large), chairman, and members Robyn Lady (Dranesville), Ilryong Moon (At-Large) and Marcia St. John-Cunning (Franconia).

• Budget Committee: Kyle McDaniel (At-Large), chairman, and Rachna Sizemore Heizer (Braddock), vice chairman.

• Comprehensive Planning Development Committee: Mateo Dunne (Mount Vernon), chairman, and members Ricardy Anderson (Mason), Seema Dixit (Sully) and Kyle McDaniel (At-Large).

• Governance Committee: Robyn Lady (Dranesville), chairman, and members Ricardy Anderson (Mason), Seema Dixit (Sully), Melanie Meren (Hunter Mill) and Rachna Sizemore Heizer (Braddock).

• Public Engagement Committee: Marcia St. John-Cunning (Franconia), chairman, and members Sandy Anderson (Springfield), Ryan McElveen (At-Large), Melanie Meren (Hunter Mill) and Ilryong Moon (At-Large).

The board also made these School Board liaison appointments to community advisory committees: Advanced Academic Programs Advisory Committee, Melanie Meren (Hunter Mill); Adult and Community Education Advisory Committee, Ricardy Anderson (Mason); Advisory Committee for Students with Disabilities, Rachna Sizemore Heizer (Braddock); Career and Technical Education Advisory Committee, Seema Dixit (Sully);  Facilities Planning Advisory Council, Mateo Dunne (Mount Vernon); and Human Resources Advisory Committee, Ilryong Moon (At-Large).

Other liaison assignments included Minority Student Achievement Oversight Committee: Marcia St. John-Cunning (Franconia); School Health Advisory Committee, Robyn Lady (Dranesville); Title 1 Parent Advisory Committee, Mateo Dunne (Mount Vernon); City of Fairfax School Board, Robyn Lady (Dranesville); Fairfax County Affordable Housing Advisory Council, Ilryong Moon (At-Large); Fairfax County Athletic Council, Ryan McElveen (At-Large); Fairfax County Community Criminal Justice Board, Seema Dixit (Sully); Fairfax County Park Authority, Kyle McDaniel (At-Large); Fairfax County Planning Commission, Mateo Dunne (Mount Vernon) and Rachna Sizemore Heizer (Braddock); Educate Fairfax Foundation, Ilryong Moon (At-Large): Legislative (Federal), Ricardy Anderson (Mason);

Legislative (State), Melanie Meren (Hunter Mill) and alternate Ryan McElveen (At-Large); and Successful Child and Youth Policy Team, Ricardy Anderson (Mason) and Marcia St. John-Cunning (Franconia).

The School Board also appointed Melanie Meren (Hunter Mill) as delegate to the Virginia School Board Association, with Sandy Anderson (Springfield) serving as alternate.
