POLICE ARREST ANOTHER SUSPECT IN HIGH-END TYSONS ROBBERY, STILL SEEK OTHERS: Fairfax County police have reeled in another suspect who allegedly was involved in a June 25 robbery in Tysons.

Detectives with the police department’s Fugitive Tracking and Apprehension Unit, aided by the U.S. Marshals Service and Ohio State Highway Patrol, on Aug. 15 tracked one of the suspects, a 24-year-old Pennsylvania man, to a location in Ohio.

Authorities located the suspect, Abdullah Robinson, and took him into custody. Authorities have charged Robinson robbery, larceny with intent to sell, conspiracy to commit larceny, conspiracy to commit retail theft, assault with a caustic substance, destruction of property and pettylarceny.

Robinson is being held without bond and will be remanded to Fairfax County, police said.

During the robbery, which happened at a high-end retail store in Tysons Galleria, multiple suspects took handbags and one allegedly discharged a fire extinguisher at a loss-prevention employee to escape from the scene. No one was injured during the robbery, which resulted in the theft of more than $60,000 worth of merchandise, county police said.

The suspects fled the scene in a white Alfa Romeo that likely had stolen or altered license plates, police said.

On Aug. 7, the U.S. Marshals Taskforce team, in coordination with county police, arrested another 24-year-old Pennsylvania man, Onntrell Cunningham, in Philadelphia on charges of robbery, larceny with intent to sell, conspiracy to commit a felony, assault via a caustic substance, organized retail theft, destruction of property and petit larceny.

Cunningham also is being held without bond and will be remanded to Fairfax County.

Detectives still are seeking another suspect, Martina Lyons, 27, of Pennsylvania, and have obtained warrants against her for robbery, larceny with intent to sell, conspiracy to commit a felony, assault via a caustic substance, organized retail theft, destruction of property, trespassing and petit larceny.

Police also are trying to identify other suspects involved in the robbery.

FELONY CHARGE LEVIED FOR ASSAULTING OFFICER: Officers were on patrol in the 400 block of Maple Ave., E., on Aug. 17 at 4:21 a.m. when they were approached by a man who began yelling profanities at them and acting erratically, Vienna police said.

When the man threatened the officers, he was arrested, police said. While being transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, the suspect continued to act aggressively, police said.

The suspect – a 45-year-old man from Staten Island, N.Y., was charged with felony assault on police and was held without bond.

CONFLICTING STORIES EMERGE AFTER COWORKER ALTERCATION: On Aug. 14 at 2:02 p.m., police were called to a business in the 100 block of Branch Road, N.E., in Vienna for a report of a verbal dispute between two employees having escalated.

Responding officers heard conflicting stories from the parties, and neither showed signs of injury, Vienna police said.

Individuals were briefed on the warrant process. One of them then went to the magistrate’s office and obtained a summons charging assault on the other, police said.

On Aug. 15, a Vienna officer served the summons on a 31-year-old Vienna woman, who was released on her signature.

RECKLESS DRIVER STOPPED BY SEWER DRAIN: On Aug. 11 at 10:45 p.m., Vienna police responded to a report of a reckless driver in the 100 block of Patrick Street, N.E.

A responding officer determined that a vehicle was being driven on the lawn of an apartment complex before it got stuck on a sewer drain.

The driver was issued a summons for reckless driving.

POLICE: SUSPECT RESISTS DURING INTERACTION WITH OFFICERS: Vienna police officers on Aug. 15 at 10:10 p.m. responded to a report of a disturbance at an apartment in the 100 block of Patrick Street, S.E.

Responding officers located the individual in the area of the 7-Eleven nearby and, upon interaction, observed signs of intoxication.

When police attempted to arrest the suspect, he began to resist before being subdued, police said.

The suspect – a 44-year-old Vienna man – was arrested on obstruction-of-justice and drunk-in-public charges and was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

RESPONDING OFFICERS MAY HAVE PREVENTED DROWNING: On Aug. 16 at 1:25 a.m., a Vienna police officer observed a man stumbling in a parking lot in the 500 block of Church Street, N.E. The man almost fell into the nearby creek, Vienna police said.

Officers interacted with the man and detected signs of intoxication. The 51-year-old McLean man was issued a summons charging drunk in public and released on his signature.

A friend of the man came to the scene and transported the individual home.

MAN CHARGED WITH RELIEVING SELF IN PUBLIC: On Aug. 17 at 8:05 p.m., an officer observed three men in the area of Park Street and Patrick Street, S.E., in Vienna, with two of them urinating on the sidewalk, police said.

One of the urinators walked away. Upon an officer’s interaction with the other, signs of intoxication were found, police said.

The suspect, a 47-year-old Vienna man, was charged with drunk-in-public and indecent exposure and was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

INCOHERENT MAN CHARGED WITH PUBLIC INTOXICATION: On Aug. 18 at 10:41 p.m., officers responded to Beulah Road and Church Street, N.E., for a report of a man yelling incoherently and walking into traffic, Vienna police said.

Officers located the man nearby, and during interactions with him noted signs of impairment, police said.

The suspect attempted to flee officers, running eastbound on Church Street, but was captured in the 400 block of Maple Ave., E.

The 32-year-old Reva, Va., man was arrested, charged with drunk in public and transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

AGGRAVATED SHOPPING-CENTER PERSONNEL CALL THE COPS: On Aug. 2 at 9:02 a.m., an employee of the property-management company for a shopping center in the 200 block of Cedar Lane, S.E., called Vienna police on a trespassing matter.

The employee reported there had been ongoing issues with a man who refused to leave the property.

Officers advised the individual that he might be arrested if he returned to the property.

WOMAN DEFRAUDED IN PHONE SCAM: On the afternoon of Aug. 19, a resident of the 100 block of Locust St., S.W., received a fraudulent call from someone claiming to be from the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office, Vienna police said.

The caller told the woman that she had missed federal court and would have to pay a fine to avoid jail time, police said.

The caller had the resident remain on the phone while she went to her bank, withdrew money and paid him through Bitcoin transactions, police said.

MAN CHARGED WITH HANGING OUT IN ABANDONED BUILDING: Vienna police officers on Aug. 18 at 6:46 p.m. responded to a report of a man entering the window of an abandoned building in the 100 block of Church Street, S.W.

Several attempts were made to get the man to exit the building, but he refused, police said. Officers ultimately found him hiding in a closet.

The 39-year-old man of no fixed address was charged with unlawful entry, trespassing, obstruction of justice and providing false identification to a police officer. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

FREDERICKSBURG MAN, 23, DIES IN CONSTRUCTION-VEHICLE CRASH ON I-66: Virginia State Police troopers are investigating an Aug. 23 single-vehicle crash in the Vienna area that killed a 23-year-old Fredericksburg man.

The accident occurred at 7:51 a.m. on westbound Interstate 66 near the highway’s intersection with Interstate 495.

The victim, identified as Devin G. Stewart, was driving a construction vehicle west in the left general-purpose lane on Interstate 66 when the vehicle crossed through the traffic bollards and into the Interstate 66 Express Lanes.

The vehicle struck a guardrail and a Jersey wall, then flipped on its side and caught fire. The fire also damaged nearby equipment for the EZ Pass system, state police said.

Stewart died at the scene, said state police, who continue to investigate the crash.
