FELON SENTENCED TO 3 YEARS FOR CARRYING FIREARM IN McLEAN INCIDENT: A federal judge of the Eastern District of Virginia on May 29 sentenced a Stafford man to three years in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.

According to court documents, on Dec. 3, 2023, loss-prevention personnel at a McLean department store on Dec. 3, 2023, observed 27-year-old Najee Lewis, aka “Bebo,” shoplifting merchandise.

Loss-prevention personnel apprehended Lewis and contacted the Fairfax County Police Department, responding officers from which recovered a loaded .40-caliber Glock handgun from the suspect’s pants. The firearm had a round in the chamber and 22 rounds in an extended magazine, authorities said.

Lewis previously had been convicted in Prince William Circuit Court of two separate felony-robbery offenses that occurred two days apart, and sentenced at the same time for both offenses.

In May 2018, Lewis was released from incarceration for those robbery convictions and began a 10-year term of supervised probation. Less than four months after his release from incarceration, while still on supervision in Virginia, a music video showing Lewis with a stolen 9mm handgun was posted to YouTube, authorities said.

Lewis was convicted of illegally possessing a firearm, which violated the terms of his supervised release. As a convicted felon, Lewis cannot legally possess a firearm or ammunition.

VIENNA POLICE INTERVENE AFTER CLEANING CREW’S ARGUMENT ESCALATES: Vienna police officers responded May 14 at 12:08 a.m. to an argument between employees of a cleaning crew in the 200 block of Cherry Street, S.W.

One of the employees reported the argument had escalated when her supervisor allegedly assaulted her, police said. The other employees advised it was only a verbal dispute and no assault had occurred.

Police advised the employee of the warrant process should she decide to pursue charges against her supervisor.

VIENNA POLICE ISSUE MARIJUANA-RELATED SUMMONSES TO 3 MEN: Vienna police dispatched officers to the 400 block of Center Street, N., on May 19 at 10:21 p.m. after receiving a report about a group of people in the area.

Police located five men near the Washington & Old Dominion Regional Trail and detected an odor of marijuana.

Police issued summonses to two Vienna men, ages 19 and 20, charging them with possession of marijuana. Officers also issued a summons to a 20-year-old Vienna man charging him with distribution of marijuana.

Police released the men on their signatures and they left the area after officers warned them about being in the park after dark.

MAN, 34, CHARGED WITH DRUNKENNESS AFTER WAWA INCIDENT: Vienna police officers responded May 17 at 3:40 p.m. to the report of a man who allegedly was harassing customers at Wawa, 465 Maple Ave., W.

Police observed the man walking away from Wawa and, upon interacting with him, detected signs of intoxication, authorities said.

Police arrested the 32-year-old Reva, Va., man. Due to the man’s level of intoxication, police transported him to a medical facility for assessment.

After the medical staff cleared the man, police took him to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where authorities charged him with being drunk in public.

MAN BANNED FROM VIENNA LIBRARY AFTER ALLEGED DISORDERLY CONDUCT: The manager of Patrick Henry Library, 101 Maple Ave., E., asked Vienna police on May 23 at 12:44 p.m. to ban a man who allegedly had threatened him and was acting disorderly toward the library’s other patrons.

The man left the library before officers arrived. An officer located the man in the area and advised him of the trespass notice and that he might be arrested if he returned to the premises.

JUVENILE PEDESTRIAN INJURED BY VEHICLE IN VIENNA: A motorist was driving on Orchard Street, N.W., traveling toward Malcolm Road on May 21 at 4:09 p.m. when a juvenile pedestrian, who was not in a crosswalk, ran across the road and was struck by the vehicle.

Rescue personnel transported the juvenile to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

WOMAN FLEES AFTER VANDALIZING VIENNA BANK EMPLOYEE’S CAR WITH KEY: Co-workers advised an employee at Chase Bank, 315 Maple Ave., E., on May 28 at 9 a.m. that an unknown woman was by his vehicle in the parking lot.

The employee and co-workers confronted the woman, who reportedly was using a key to vandalize his vehicle.

The woman was agitated and screaming at the man. She then got in her vehicle and drove away. This case is under investigation, police said.

VIENNA RESIDENT SAYS CAMERA CAPTURED YOUTH VANDALIZING VEHICLE: On May 25, a resident living in the 100 block of Patrick Street, S.W., told Vienna police his security camera had recorded a young male suspect vandalizing his vehicle on May 20 at 1:45 p.m.

The suspect broke a brake light and jumped on the roof of the victim’s vehicle, police said.

VIENNA RESIDENTS SAYS SOMEONE ENTERED SHED, SPRAYED FIRE EXTINGUISHER: A resident living in the 100 block of Patrick Street, S.W., told Vienna police on May 20 at 2:33 p.m. that someone had entered his unlocked shed, removed a fire extinguisher, sprayed it and then left the extinguisher on the ground.

Nothing else in the shed appeared to have been taken or disturbed, police said.

SOLICITOR IN VIENNA CITED FOR NOT HAVING PROPER PERMIT: A resident living in the 400 block of Adam Road, S.E., told Vienna police on May 24 at 4:15 p.m. that a solicitor was in the neighborhood.

An officer located the man in the 300 block of Adahi Road, S.E., and found he was soliciting without a town solicitor’s permit.

Police issued a summons to the 34-year-old man, of no fixed address, charging him with soliciting without a license. Police released the man on his signature.

VIENNA WOMAN CANCELS CHECK AFTER MAGAZINE SUBSCRIPTION PROVES A SCAM: A resident living in the 100 block of Saratoga Way, N.E., told Vienna police on May 21 at 10:26 a.m that a man had come to her door selling magazine subscriptions.

She gave him a check for payment and was given a receipt, but later found information online that the company was a scam. The resident notified her bank and canceled the check.

POLICE RESPOND TO MULTIPLE INCIDENTS AT FESTIVAL: Vienna police have kept order at ViVa! Vienna! since the festival’s founding 40 years ago, and responded to multiple service calls at the event this past Memorial Day weekend.

• On May 25 at 9:50 p.m., a juvenile reported he was with his friends near Dominion Road and Church Street, N.E., at Viva!Vienna! when another juvenile approached him and struck him.

The second juvenile reported the group had been following the other boy around the festival, antagonizing him. He denied assaulting the first juvenile and there were no signs of injury, police said. Police advised the parties to avoid any further contact with each other.

• A Viva!Vienna! vendor set up at 111 Church St., N.W., reported that between May 26 at 6 p.m. and May 27 at 8 a.m., someone had stolen her tent and business sign.

• A vendor running the Viva!Vienna! carnival in the vicinity of Church and Mill street, N.E., told Vienna police on May 27 at 1:54 p.m. that someone had attempted to purchase tickets with a fraudulent bill. The cashier recognized the bill as fraudulent and the man completed his purchase with a credit card, police said.
