MAN CHARGED WITH DRUNK DRIVING AFTER HITTING TREE, LIGHT POLE IN VIENNA: A Vienna police officer stopped a vehicle June 12 at 4 a.m. after the driver reportedly struck a tree and a light pole in the 400 block of Maple Avenue, E.

Upon interacting with the driver, the officer detected signs of impairment and observed an open container of alcohol in the vehicle, police said.

Police arrested the 25-year-old McLean man after he allegedly failed to complete a series of field-sobriety tests, police said.

Police took him to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he provided a sample of his blood for analysis. Authorities have charged the man with driving while intoxicated and drinking while operating a motor vehicle.

VIENNA POLICE CITE 2 MEN FOR PUBLIC DRINKING: Vienna police dispatched officers to the 200 block of Cedar Lane, S.E., on June 15 at 8:15 p.m. in response to a report of two intoxicated individuals in the parking lot.

The officers reportedly observed the two men consuming alcohol and, upon interacting with the men, detected signs of intoxication, police said.

A family member of one of the men arrived and offered to transport him home. Police issued the 51-year-old Vienna man a summons charging him with drinking in public and released him on his signature.

The second man, who is 47 years old and lives in Vienna, complained of pain from an injury he had suffered earlier in the day. Rescue personnel responded and transported the man to an area hospital for treatment.

VIENNA AUTO SHOP COMPLAINS OF 3 BAD CHECKS FROM CUSTOMER: The owner of Frames Automotive, 340 Mill St., N.E., Suite B, told Vienna police on June 18 about receiving three bad checks from a customer for work the business had completed on her vehicle.

 

JUVENILE BICYCLIST STRIKES, INJURES PEDESTRIAN ON TRAIL IN VIENNA: A bicyclist and his juvenile son were riding on the Washington & Old Dominion Regional Trail near Talahi Road, S.E., on June 19 at 8:06 p.m. when his son accidentally struck a pedestrian, Vienna police said.

Rescue personnel transported the pedestrian to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
