The Northern Virginia Association of Realtors hopes an alliance with the national real-estate association in Peru will pay benefits on both sides.

“NVAR is proud to be the partner association with the Asociación Peruana de Agentes Inmobiliarios (ASPAI),” the local organization said in a March 30 statement, noting that the Peruvian population is on average between the eighth and 10th largest nationality represented in Fairfax County.

“Real estate looks very different in Peru compared to the United States,” NVAR officials said. “Our agreement provides a great opportunity to educate across borders on best practices and on how to work with clients from different countries.”

Last September, then-NVAR president Reggie Copeland was invited to ASPAI in Peru as a presenter. Copeland talked about exclusive-listing agreements, which do not exist in Peru, the importance of education, cooperation between brokerages, and the National Association of Realtors’ Code of Ethics.

“The presentation inspired the audience and represented Northern Virginia Realtors in a very positive and professional light,” the organization noted. “We look forward to continuing to work with ASPAI and strengthen the international relationship we have built.”
