Wakefield baseball team wins two big Liberty District contests

Warriors lose a third league game by just one run

Wakefield pitcher Wade Bringham threw a complete game in a victory over McLean.

The Wakefield Warriors (6-7, 2-3) lost to the Marshall Statesmen, 8-7, then defeated the visiting Langley Saxons, 10-2, and the McLean Highlanders, 8-1, in Liberty District high-school baseball games last week.

Charlie Grove, Beau Branch and Mason Bull (three RBI) each had two hits against Marshall, with Bull having a homer and Grove a double. Teddy Angel had a double and an RBI. Keegan Mahoney also and Branch (two steals) also doubled.

Against Langley, Mike Duncan smacked a two-run homer and added a run-scoring single; Wade Bringham had three hits and four RBI; and Branch, Bull and Grove had RBI singles.

Mahoney started on the mound and got the win.
