Three senior softball teams win tournament championships

Reston Green pulled off a worst-to-first title

The Northern Virginia Senior Softball league concluded its spring and summer season with three postseason tournament conference champions crowned.

The Reston Green won the National Conference, the Vienna Gold were Continental Conference champs and the Fairfax Light Blue won the American Conference crown.

The Vienna Gold and Fairfax Light Blue each pulled off double titles by winning regular-season and tournament crowns. The Reston Green were quite different, as the team finished last during the regular-season standings with 11 wins, then got hot to win the tournament.

The rosters of the three teams follows.

National, Reston Green: Bill Decker, Vito Reifinger, Tim Wagner, Paul Levine, Bob Snyder, Roger Kantner, Jack Willmore, David Willmore, Tom Ryczek, Donzell Jackson, Desmond Walton, Gary Stock, team manager Wayne Masefield and assistant manager David Malcolm.

Continental, Vienna Gold: Joey Arico, Eddie Hara, Mimi Murphy, Bill Gross, Tom Kennedy, Mick Harmon, Tom Redmond, Syd Bradbury, Rob Simko, Carolyn Dangelmaier, Brian Payne (honorary scorekeeper and umpire), Rich Lazanov (honorary umpire and base coach), Dave Post (honorary base coach), manager Lynn Dangelmaier and assistant manager Teddy Ringelheim.

American, Fairfax Light Blue: Pat Drury, Larry Scarlata, Richard Dailey, Mike Bukovac,  Steve Kovalenko, Nancy Anthony, John Dwyer, Bob Oberleitner, Steve DiStaso, Ron Wilcox,  Bob Johnson,  David Lumsden, Pierre Bolduc, Mark Hempen and Dan Sully Sullivan.

The league will begin a fall season in coming weeks.
