A number of swimmers from the group of the Overlee Flying Fish will be participating in the Northern Virginia Swimming League's individual all-star meet on July 27.

Individual swimming and diving all-star meets in the Northern Virginia Swimming League are being held this weekend.

The swimming event is today, beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Pinecrest Swim and Tennis Club in Herndon. The diving is Sunday starting at 8 a.m. at Hunt Valley pool in Springfield. The competitions last all day, with participants competing from the age groups of 8-under up to 15-to-18.

Swimmers will compete in five different events – freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and individual medley. There will be multiple heats in each race for boys and girls.

Many swimmers and divers from teams in the GazetteLeader’s coverage areas will participate in the meets.

Diver Michayla Eisenberg of Arlington’s Overlee pool is a favorite to win the senior girls diving event. The Flint Hill School graduate and two-time private high-school girls state champion, who will dive for the Virginia Tech women’s team in college, is undefeated in all six of her previous NVSL meets this season.

The all-star meets conclude the 2024 NVSL summer season for both swimming and diving.

• The Colonial Swimming League also will hold its individual all-star swim meet today, starting at 8 a.m. at Ashburn Village pool in Ashburn.

Swimmers from Arlington pools Fort Myer and the Arlington Knights of Columbus will be participating.
