Overlee has two individual race winners at NVSL all-star meet

There were other top finishers from Arlington pools

There were two winners from Arlington pools at this season’s Northern Virginia Swimming League’s individual all-star meet.

One was double race-winner Abigail Hartman of Overlee of Division 1. She was first in the girls 8-under freestyle in 16.16 seconds, then later in the meet won the breaststroke in 18.95 at the same age group. Hartman often won two races in each of the team’s five regular-season dual meets this summer.

Overlee also had the other winner from an Arlington pool, held at Pinecrest Swim and Tennis Club in Herndon on July 27, when Samantha Bravery was first in the girls 9-10 free in 32.26.

There were no runner-up finishers from Arlington pools, but two third-place finishers from Division 1’s Donaldson Run were Theo Cahill in the boys 9-10 free and Overlee’s Mary Pickens in the girls 9-10 butterfly.

Fourth in the meet from Arlington pools were Donaldson Run’s Kate Edgerton in the girls 8-under free, Dominion Hill’s Andrew Aldonas in the boys 8-under free and Arlington Forest’s Evan Dickey in the boys 9-10 back.

Fifth from Arlington pools were all Donaldson Run girls, Eleanor Wertzler in the girls 13-14 free, Avery Wishneff in the girls 8-under breast, Caroline Baca in the girls 9-10 breast and Eva Cappitelli in the girls 8-under fly.

The all-star meet ended the 2024 NVSL season.
