O'Connell grads receive playing time for Division I hoop teams

Bishop O'Connell graduate Christain May played in 30 games as a freshman for the Towson University men's basketball team this past season.

Three 2022 Bishop O’Connell High School graduates who were standouts on the boys basketball team at the private school received significant playing time during their freshmen seasons for Division I men’s college squads during the recently completed 2022-23 season.

• Paul Lewis was a guard for the Vanderbilt University team. He played in 25 games, with five starts, and averaged 2.9 points per contest and played 10-minutes an outing. Lewis made 15 three-point shots, had 22 rebounds, 22 assist and 11 steals.

Lewis scored eight points (two three-pointers) and had three assists in the Southeast Conference tournament championship game.

• Cavan Reilly was a guard for the University of Delaware. He played in 29 games, averaging 5.9 points and 1.2 rebounds a contest. For the season, Reilly made 34 three-pointers, had 15 assists and eighth steal.

His single-game high for points was 15.

• Christian May was a guard for Towson University. He played in 30 games, averaging four points and 2.5 rebounds an outing.
For the season, May made 20 three-pointers, blocked 11 shots, had six steals and six assists.
His single-game season high for points was 14.
