Bishop O'Connell High School golfer Logan Reilly has won multiple tournaments this summer.

Logan Reilly's busy and highly-successful recent schedule playing different golf tournaments continues Aug. 12-18 with his biggest competition yet during the summer months.

The rising Bishop O'Connell High School senior earlier qualified to play in the 124th U.S. Amateur tournament at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Minnesota, the site of past U.S. Open and PGA professional major championships.

Reilly, 17, qualified for the U.S. Amateur by winning the recent Virginia State Golf Association Amateur at Belle Haven Country Club in Alexandria. He defeated Langley High School graduate, Great Falls resident and George Mason University golfer Nikita Gubenko in the match-play final by a 4-and-2 score.

At the U.S. Amateur, Reilly did not make the 36-hole cut for the playoff match-play portion of the competition. He shot 10-over 73-79-152.

Also in recent weeks, Reilly won the Virginia State Open tournament at Independence Golf Club near Richmond by making a 30-foot birdie putt on a sudden-death playoff hole. Reilly carded a 12-under total of 65-69-67-201 total to reach the sudden death.

In another big summer event, Reilly tied for 15th with a 74-68-70-72-284 total at the Junior PGA Championship at Congressional Country Club in Maryland.

Prior to his summer action, Reilly won his second straight Division I private-school state high-school championship for O'Connell. Later he played in the final 36-hole U.S. Open qualifying competition at Woodmont Country Club in Maryland with many professional players. He shot 75-74-149 and did not qualify.
