Bishop O'Connell's Aidan Munroe (1) had a productive game running the ball against John Paul the Great.

The Bishop O'Connell Knights (3-3) had a breakout game on offense this season with a 39-0 home victory over John Paul the Great (1-5) on Oct. 7 in non-conference high-school action.

O'Connell rushed for 300 yards and had another 70-yard run nullified because of a penalty. The 39 points were a single-game season high and the shutout was the Knights' first this season.

Doug O'Donnell was O'Connell's leading rusher with 95 yards and a touchdown and a two-point conversion run, Mikhai Martin ran for 78 and a score, Aidan Monrue for 68 and a TD, Nate Harrison had 33 and a two-point conversion run and Zach Harrison 20.

"We ran the ball well and didn't have to throw a lot," O'Connell coach Todd Sabatino said.

In the air quarterback Henry Behrens completed three passes for 24 yards and Max Stovall four for 23 and a touchdown. Frank Johnson had three catches for 18 yards and a score and Aidan Joseph two for 20.

Tyler Fontenot kicked a 44-yard field goal and multiple extra points.

On defense for the Knights, Joe Wall and Jack Digges each had three tackles for losses and Zion Reynolds made seven tackles, including a sack, and another for a loss.

"We did a lot of gang tackling, which is what we want," Sabatino said.
