In the first season for the Division III Marymount University wrestling team, Mateo Hernandez finished eighth at 141 pounds with a 3-3 record at the season-ending Southeast Region Championships.
One of his victories was by pin.
For the season, Hernandez had Marymount’s second most wins by an individual wrestler with 20, including eight pins. He finished first at the JMU Wrestling Club Open and second in another competition.
Eric Washington had the most wins with 30 and had two runner-up finishes in meets.
