Kameron Blanding takes over both programs starting this fall.

Marymount University recently hired Kameron Blanding as the Division III school’s new head coach for men’s and women’s cross country and track and field.

Blanding takes over the program after its strong success over the past two seasons, which includes back-to-back Atlantic East championships in women’s track and field and a pair of runner-up performances in men’s track and field.

“I am deeply appreciative and honored to lead the track and field and cross country programs,” Blanding said. “I look forward to building on the groundwork of the previous coaches.”

Blanding previously was the director of track and field and cross country at Averett University in Danville. The program produced an NCAA second-team Division III All-American, alongside five All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference performers and two champions.

The teams consistently improved under Blanding’s leadership, setting 110 school records and 239 personal bests during his tenure.

Blanding’s teams enjoyed other success, including a pair of conference championships in the Appalachian Athletic Conference, coaching the No. 3 nationally-ranked men’s track & field team at Central Christian College of Kansas, and coaching an individual national champion. He has helped coach more than 100 national qualifiers and 20 All-Americans.

“Our goal will be the constant pursuit of excellence in everything that we do inside and outside of the sport,” Blanding said.
