Three teams from the GazetteLeader’s coverage areas were division winners of the Northern Virginia Swimming League’s Sportsmanship Award for the 2024 summer season.
The Donaldson Run Thunderbolts took that honor in Division 1, with the McLean Marlins winning in Division 2 and the Vienna Aquatic Club Gators in Division 4.
The awards are determined by voting from opposing team coaches, team representatives and swimmers age 13 and older.
Awards go to teams that embody the principals of good sportsmanship outlined in the NVSL’s standards of conduct.
Donaldson Run finished fourth with a 2-3 record in Division 1. McLean finished last in Division 2 and Vienna Aquatic Club fifth in Division 4.
