Verbal altercation leads to malicious-wounding charges for 2 men

Both suspects were held without bond after incident

On Sept. 4 at 10:12 p.m., two men known to each other were inside a home in the 1300 block of North Pierce Street when a verbal dispute escalated into a physical confrontation, Arlington police said.

One of the men allegedly punched the other, causing him to fall, police said. The second man then grabbed a baton and struck the first, police said.

Responding officers located the suspects on scene and took them into custody. Both suspects sustained injuries described as serious but non-life-threatening and were transported to an area hospital for treatment.

The suspects – 59-year-old Jack Saunders and 57-year-old Richard Ferguson, each of Arlington – were arrested, charged with malicious wounding and were held without bond.
