Police: Victim chases down thief, gets stabbed in the process

Suspect in Sept. 8 Ballston-area incident remains at large

On Sept. 8 at 9:27 p.m., a man was sitting on a bench in the 900 block of North Stafford Street when a man stole his bag and fled the scene on a bike, Arlington police said.

The victim subsequently located the suspect in the area of North Stafford Street and North Fairfax Drive, and they became involved in a physical altercation during which the male suspect struck the victim with a sharp object before fleeing the scene on foot, police said.

The victim sustained injuries described as non-life-threatening and was treated and released by medics on the scene.

The suspect is described as a black male, 40 to 50 years old, 6 feet tall, with a beard and wearing a black jacket.
