The next training session of EcoAction Arlington and Virginia Cooperative Extension’s Energy Masters volunteer program begins Oct. 1, with applications accepted through Sept. 20.

Energy Masters volunteers, after receiving specialized training, deliver hands-on conservation upgrades and community education in affordable-housing communities in Northern Virginia.

“Join a community of volunteers who are passionate about helping neighbors reduce their carbon footprint, their energy and water consumption and their utility bills,” organizers said.

Training is open to those 16 and older across the region. Scholarships are available for adult participants; the registration fee is not required for student volunteers.

In addition, EcoAction Arlington is hosting focus groups this fall to gather community feedback on how the organization can better address climate change at the local level.

“Your voice matters – join us and help shape our advocacy and engagement efforts,” the organization said. “Together, we can make a difference.”
