To bring the school system into compliance with recent mandates from the General Assembly, Arlington school leaders are working to add a division-wide literacy plan focused on students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade to the list of strategic-planning policies.

Once adopted by the School Board, it will join the school system’s strategic plan, educational-technology plan and capital-improvement plan as long-term-planning documents.

The policy currently is moving through the development stage, with no date set for eventual School Board adoption. Once approved, it will be submitted to the Virginia Department of Education and also posted online.
