Arlington police hunting for robbers in a number of incidents

In one case, suspect was arrested and charged both with robbery and public intoxication

The Arlington County Police Department is on the hunt in a number of recent robbery incidents.

• On Sept. 16 at 7:26 p.m., a man entered a business in the 1100 block of South George Mason Drive and attempted to conceal merchandise, Arlington police said.

An employee confronted the suspect, who attempted to leave without paying, and a physical altercation ensued, police said. The suspect subsequently threatened the employee with a metal object and the employee recovered the merchandise before the suspect fled the scene on foot.

The employee sustained injuries described as minor, and was treated on the scene by medics.

The suspect is described as a black male.

• On Sept. 18 at 12:23 a.m., a man was in the lobby of a residential building in the 200 block of 19th Court South when a man approached and allegedly stole electronics, Arlington police said.

The victim confronted the suspect and a struggle ensued before the victim recovered the electronics, police said. No injuries were reported.

The suspect – 52-year-old David Kibbey of Arlington – was located on the scene. He was arrested and charged with robbery and public intoxication.

• On Sept. 18 between 1:51 and 2:21 a.m., two men who are acquaintances were engaged in conversation inside a residence when the suspect assaulted the victim with a cane before threatening him with a knife and stealing an undisclosed amount of cash, Arlington police said.

The suspect then left the home, police reported. No injuries were reported. The suspect is described as an Hispanic male, 6’3”, 160 to 180 pounds.

• On Sept. 18 at 3:08 p.m., a juvenile was walking in the 3500 block of 2nd Street South when he was approached by three juvenile males, Arlington police said.

One of the individuals assaulted the victim and attempted to steal his personal property, police said, before fleeing on foot. No injuries were reported.

• On Sept. 18 at 5:11 p.m., a man entered a business in the 2800 block of Columbia Pike and had collected merchandise when an employee confronted him, Arlington police said.

The suspect then made threatening statements before exiting the store without payment and fleeing the scene on foot, police said.

The suspect is described as a black male, 5’8”, with a thin build.

• On Sept. 19 at 2:18 p.m., four men entered a business in the 4200 block of Fairfax Drive and began concealing merchandise, Arlington police said.

They then attempted to leave without paying, when an employee confronted them.

Two of the suspects shoved the employee and threw a wine bottle, striking the employee’s foot, before leaving the store along the other suspects, police said. The employee sustained minor injuries and was evaluated and released by medics on scene.

Responding officers canvassed the area for the suspects, yielding negative results.

The suspects are described as two black males and two Hispanic males.
