Who says print is dead? Not the Arlington County Democratic Committee.

Arlington’s dominant political organization plans to drop about 60,000 copies of its pre-election campaign newspaper – known as the Messenger – starting in mid-September.

Volunteers are being asked to take one or more of the roughly 400 routes to hand-deliver the publications, which include information about Democratic candidates up and down the ballot.

The walking routes take approximately 90 minutes to complete, Arlington Democratic officials said at the party’s July meeting. Those delivering them are not required to engage with residents, but merely tuck the publication in homes’ entryways.

The party also is planning to mail copies of the Messenger to some residents living in secure multi-unit buildings, and also e-mail them to those on its mailing list.
